Recently we were contacted by a customer with a special request for her cousin.

Dear Rosemont Floral,
I have what might be a pretty unusual question for you.

My cousin lives not far from your shop. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and has had chemotherapy for the last few months, and has just come home from surgery. She is in law school, and intends to graduate in May, on schedule! And she already had a position waiting for her at one of the area's biggest law firms.

She recently said that she wonders if her prospective employer thinks they got "a lemon" because of her illness. And the odd coincidence was, that I was just thinking the other day that if any 2 people on earth could get such terrible lemons in life (her cancer - she and her husband got married 2 months before she found the lump) and make lemonade anyway, it would be them. My cousin and her husband are the most incredible, loving, supportive, generous people.

So my long-winded question is this: is it possible to send her a small, potted lemon tree? Or if not that, then to add some small lemons to a floral arrangement? I live in in downeast Maine and am not able to get down to Portland very often but I'd like to do something a little more "personal" for her than the typical floral bouquets (although they certainly are beautiful!!). Your blog makes your lovely website so friendly and personal that I decided to contact you with my crazy question!

Thanks very much for any advice you might have,
Kim

Lemon trees were not available for Kim's cousin, however, we created a lovely arrangement of yellow lilies with other yellow and white flowers in a glass pitcher filled with lemons.
