Scholarship Award

Dale Carnegie Training® of Maine announced the first full scholarship awarded to the Regional Volunteer of the Year of the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce.

LeBorgne is the first Volunteer of the Year to be awarded a full scholarship by Dale Carnegie Training of Maine.  “This is a precious gift and I am honored to be selected. It is very generous of Dale Carnegie Training® of Maine and staff to offer this scholarship to Volunteer of the Year,” says LeBorgne.

“We are pleased to be able to award a scholarship to Erlene.  She is so deserving because of all the time and talent she has offered the chamber.” says Dave Stearns, president of Dale Carnegie Training of Maine.  “The Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce has been an important factor in the growth of our business, so it just makes sense to give back to the volunteers who unselfishly give of themselves to fulfill the mission of this vital business organization.”

Erlene LeBorgne received the honorable title of Regional Volunteer of the Year for 2006. LeBorgne has been a member of the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce since 1998 and selected as Regional Volunteer of the Year by chamber staff. LeBorgne has served on seven committees and task forces on a local level with the Portland Area Chamber of Commerce.  She has also served on the planning committee for the Cure Breast Cancer for ME event in 2006, and continues to provide fresh flowers through Rosemont Floral for the annual event.  LeBorgne is involved on a national level with the Society of American Florists where she serves on the Member Services Committee and sits on the Retail Council Committee representing all of New England and the state of New York.

LeBorgne is the proprietor of Rosemont Floral, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year in July.  She explains her business philosophy as, “We believe in providing customers with quality service and quality product at a reasonable price with great customer service. We have fun doing it.”

LeBorgne’s scholarship is awarded for Dale Carnegie’s flagship program, the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Communications and Human Relations. It is a training process that releases untapped potential and gives people successful results in building powerful communication skills, developing interpersonal skills, leading with confidence and learning effective attitude management.  Participants learn how to live their life deliberately, how to speak effectively with confidence, and to think on their feet whether one-on-one, at a staff meeting, or before a large group.

The Dale Carnegie Course is accredited by ACE (American Council on Education) for college credit and ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training) for CEU’s.
