Fall Season in South Florida! It's here!
Our Fall Season in Florida has arrived. Did you miss it? It arrived last week when the temperature dropped from the 90's down to 70's! When I start talking about South Florida weather, my northern friends usually start the "moaning " or "groaning " about how lucky we are in South Florida....well we are but.....we'd like to have pumpkins in our backyards, colorful leaves changing their shades, and sweater weather too! Well, that is never going to happen! But what we do have are orchids! Year round orchids and this month they are in the fall colors. Since the temperature change only lasted three days, we can still enjoy them without wearing a sweater. And if we turn our air conditioners down low enough, we can heat up some hot chocolate and gaze at these gorgeous Mokara orchids while sipping away!
The Mokara orchid variety is from the Vanda family that has been tweaked by man which has yielded an outstandiung array of colors, flower shapes, checkering, striping and broader floral segments. They do not drape like a dendrobium variety does but seem to be more regal in their form. Gotta run, my hot chocolate is ready!
