Flowers From The Rainflorist is striving to go even greener in 2009 and we have started the New Year off with a brand new program of recycling. We already use many eco-friendly floral products in the shop’s daily operations by recycling old paper, not printing emails and recycling all empty toner cartridges and old cell phones. We even separate plastic bottles and have marked trash cans with special bags so that the things are separated. It took us a bit to get use too but gradually we are getting it right and not having to go dumpster diving at the end of the day to retrieve something that missed the right can.
Flowers From The Rainflorist is even expanding on this “green” program by offering our clients a way to also participate in helping save our planet, and conserve scarce natural resources. It wasn’t our idea, but rather an idea that came from a very special client of ours named Patsy Jones. She works with a local program called “Feed Our Children” and brought in her vases that she had collected over the years from deliveries of flowers from her children. Recycling vases really never occurred to Flowers From The Rainflorist until then. Then we started to get an occasional phone call from a customer asking if we wanted their vases back. That piqued our interest.
Things started to gather momentum when our drivers started bringing back vases from our Corporate accounts. Even some of our customers started to make a special stop at the shop when they came down from places like Boca or up from Miami and they would bring in a box of vases. It was funny to see some vase style that we had not used in years that they had shoved under the sink or stored in the garage. It was like seeing long lost relative coming back for a visit. Many voiced their concerns saying, "I just did not feel right about throwing them away, would you like to reuse them? Or, "You have sent me some beautiful arrangements over the years and I was cleaning out my garage and thought you might like to have them back?"
These customers are really the ones that encouraged us to make a plan to be involved with “getting green” and to do a small part to improve our environment. All of this helped us launch our reduce, recycle, reuse program. For those of you who want to help, go ahead and bring in your used vases, old cell phones, and empty ink cartridges, even baskets and containers. We will gladly reuse or recycle them for you. As a special thank you we will present you with a $10 gift card towards a future purchase or a free small green plant to take home to help the environment.
This is our way of saying thanks for caring, after all, we are in the caring business. Our shop is located in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale and we have customers from as far south as Miami and Weston and as far north as West Palm Beach and everywhere in between. You can see our trucks all over South Fl, from Sunrise to Boca Raton, Weston to Hollywood, Tamarac, to Deerfield, Plantation to Coconut Creek and Davie to Margate. If you see one of our trucks, ask the driver to take your recyclable vases or baskets back to the shop for you and save gas, we’ll send you a gift card in the mail that you can use online or even over the phone. Look for our new “green” logo’s on all of our vehicles…flag us down and we’ll do the rest.
We love what we do at Flowers From the Rainflorist….we are in the business of bridging the miles and making deliveries happen that otherwise would not be possible Join us in making difference in the environment!
