It's Time for Easter Flowers
Spring is here and the flowers of the season have arrived in abundance. With eye-popping colors and amazing fragrances, they tell us Easter is just around the corner.
East Coast and Midwest transplants here in California often miss the Easter flowers they remember growing in their neighborhoods - tulips, daffodils, lilacs, hyacinths and iris to name a few - so we've made sure to have full stock in hand to help bring back fond memories and quell some Spring flowers fever.
"Lilac time" started this week and will only be around for the next month or so. Most of the lilac (seen in our Scents of Spring Vase arrangement) on the local market is currently coming from farms in the Julian, CA area where the high elevation (4,226 ft above sea level) and seasonal temperature changes provide perfect growing conditions.
Later in April and in early May, we'll bring in lilacs from Oregon, with availability from growers moving further north each week.

Although the flowers can be forced for out-of-season availability,
they're never as fragrant or abundant (or affordable) as when they
bloom in their natural season.
Another great spring flower now at its peak is the ranunculus. Famed
for their soft, mutiple tissue-like petals and vivid colors, most
Southern Californians know ranunculus from spotting the massive color
striped hills off the 5 Freeway in Carlsbad at the Flower Fields. (It's a 'must see' place for flower lovers during March and April.)
We're featuring hot pink ranunculus, hydrangeas, French tulips, roses and other seasonal delights in our Spring Festival Vase (see left) and have bunches available for just $5.95 for pick-up at our Anaheim flower shop.
And as long as we're talking about Easter, don't forget the family dinner table. Our design team hopped to it and created a fun and festive Easter Bunny Bouquet - perfect for a centerpiece - to delight friends and family.
Sure, we can make more serious and artistic flower arrangements, but the sheer joy of creating 'fun' works well for both us and our customers who like to select something playful and a bit humorous. It brings out the kid in all of us.
What ever you're doing this Spring, we hope you can take a bit of time to stop and enjoy the fragrant, fun, flirty and fleeting flowers of the season - while they're at their peak.
