Orange County Wildflowers Spring from the Ashes

Orange County Register photographer Bruce Chambers shot a gorgeous series of California wildflowers for today's edition. Trekking to the formerly burned out hillsides of Chino State Park (scene of last fall's devastating Freeway Complex fire), Chambers captures images of native California flowers among the blacked remnants of trees and branches.

His slideshow of 30 photos can be viewed by visiting the Green OC Blog. The golden orange flower (seen above), a budding California poppy, is just one of his many delicious images in this group.

According to The Register, "Following wildfires and fierce rainstorms, experts are expecting a spectacular season for wildflowers" and they've included an interactive section to help readers identify and find wildflowers in Orange County.

For flower lovers, this time of year is always a treat. A big 'thanks' to the OC Register for bringing us both the story and the visual beauty of California's wildflowers - and making this season even more memorable.
