Orange County Florist in CBS Amazing Race

I just happened to tune into the CBS hit The Amazing Race Sunday night and was surprised and delighted to see fellow Orange County florist and owner of Costa Mesa Florist, Rachel Rosales, competing with her partner TK Erwin for the million dollar prize.

I phoned her shop today and had a few minutes to ask Rachel about her experience. (Of course she couldn't discuss anything about upcoming episodes.) Naturally, the discussion revolved around flowers. :) 

Rachel and Costa Mesa Florist are well known for their contemporary, high style designs and European flair. Did Rachel learn anything in her travels that she could bring back and use in the flower shop?

Rachel said that the locations had given her great inspiration for floral designs, especially during the time she spent in Amsterdam (site of part of Sunday night's episode). "The hotels, shops and restaurants all displayed flowers - lots of flowers. And of course, the European styles were fantastic."

She's working on adding some of the Amazing Race-inspired arrangements to their website. 

Amazingly enough, 5 of the 22 racers are from Orange County and in the it's-a-small-world department, two of the other contestants were in Rachel's Fountain Valley High School graduating class.
