Saying "thank you for the flowers"

Back in May, we delivered some very large flower arrangements to Melinda Doolittle for the season finale of American Idol and I know the Backups, Melinda's ardent fans who sent the bouquets, wondered what her response was. 

I recently attended the American Idols Live! tour stop at the Honda Center here in Anaheim and found the following comment from Melinda in a special issue of TV Guide that was given to all show-goers:

I cannot wait to look people in the eye and say thank you!

People have sent me books, scrapbooks and the most beautiful flowers from a group that calls themselves Melinda's Backups."  I've never seen flowers like that in my life!" 

Seeing those words must have made her fans proud. (It sure did us. :) ) It's always good to say 'Thanks for the flowers', especially when you can do it in a nationally distributed magazine.

Even better than reading Melinda's flower mention was watching her rock the house with her amazing voice.

Just come across this comment from August.  I was one of the backups that originally contributed to the flowers in May.  I am based in the UK.

You might be interested to learn that the "Melinda's Backups"  have formed into a supportive association for Melinda at the URL I have included.  On the 9th November 2007 at Melinda's first real solo concert in Franklin 40 of us from that site went to the concert and afterwords had a party which Melinda attended.  She not only met us, but danced and sang karioke with us.  We had people from all over the world (I flew in from the UK - along with someone else, we had someone from Hawaii and we had people from the four corners of the US mainland).

The community forum is where most of the action takes place - come and join us and see what we are doing. (You will have to register with your e-mail address, but its a painless procedure just to keep spammers out).   Flowers for Melinda is certainly one of the themes, but so is the support of Malaria No More (Melinda's charity) etc etc.
