Floral Design Class Fun
Avante Gardens hosted a fun flower arranging class at our Anaheim store yesterday as a fundraiser for the St. Juliana School of Fullerton.
Students began the day learning care and handling tips to maximize enjoyment of both the flowers purchased from florists and the ones cut from their own gardens. They then watched a lively demonstration of a tropical contemporary arrangement by Phil Rulloda.
Our first "hands on" project was a pave' style design of vibrant spring flowers arranged in a bubble bowl using roses, spray roses, ranunculus, tulips, waxflower, statice, dianthus, solidater and seeded eucalyptus. The spring treat, perfect for a centerpiece or table arrangement, was a hit and the students did a wonderful job on the project.
The second design, a contemporary elongated centerpiece, was created in Oasis floral foam and featured orchids, purple Florigene carnations, spray roses, bells of Ireland, heather, statice, waxflower and a variety of foliages.
Attendees took home both of their flower arrangements and were pleased to have learned more about flowers and floral design while supporting the St. Juliana School.
