Christmas at our Flower Shop

Family owned and operated florist shops are really different than 'online only' florists and big box retailers and the Christmas season offers us the opportunity to do what we do best - create custom floral designs to express the many looks, wishes and greetings of our treasured customers. Each order is an obligation to make sure we convey the right tone with the right colors and the perfect flower choices.

There were many favorite moments in the shop this holiday season and I'd like to highlight a few.

Flowers for Myself

A number of customers either dropped in or phoned in requests we design arrangements for their homes - not for entertaining, but just to simply enjoy the color and fragrance of flowers during the holiday season. One particular shopper said, "I can't image having Christmas without fresh flower arrangements in my house. They are my gift from me to me."  :)

Flowers for Entertaining

It's always a pleasure to work with clients to create fresh flower centerpieces and accessories for holiday parties. Despite red flowers being the predominant color of the season, some planners selected alternate color schemes; choosing to evoke winter frost, royal tones and vibrant contemporary pastels. For traditional reds, we created an array of different styles - from simple to classic to contemporary.  One special order included unique Christmas wrist corsages - complete with tiny jingle bells - for each dinner guest.

Flowers as a Gift

Most of our holiday designs are purchased as gifts and it's a pleasure to be able to help visually express the sentiments in which those gifts are given, whether for business reasons or to convey personal wishes.  We helped many customers send flowers locally, nationally and internationally.

One gentleman called a few days before Christmas and asked that we send a beautiful design to his mother who lives in a small town in Alabama. She had just been diagnosed with cancer and he was trying his best to get a flight to see her - but wasn't sure he'd make it there by Christmas Day. We found a flower shop a few towns away from her rural location and requested they create and deliver her special bouquet.  Our customer called back to tell us his Mom had phoned to say she received the most beautiful arrangement she'd ever seen.  Nearly in tears, he thanked us for helping making sure is Mom knew just how important she was to him.

That's what flower do. They visually express love and send hugs - even when you can't be there.
