Flowers for a Sage Green Wedding
The soft gray-greens of sage coupled with blossoms in whites, eggshells and ivories creates a cool and contemporary look for today's spring and summer brides.
One of our favorite materials to use in this color scheme is seeded eucalyptus for its light texture and perfect match in hue. Its softness lets the berries lightly dance as the bridal party processes down the aisle. Seeded eucalyptus, which surrounds the contemporary bridesmaid's bouquet pictured below, has the effect of lifting and softening the profile of flowers to carry.
The draped effect of the eucalyptus in the matching bridal bouquet of mini callas, roses and hydrangeas worked to visually separate the design from an elegant ivory lace wedding gown.
For the Flowergirl and Ringbearer, accessories trimmed with a soft double-faced satin ribbon and accented with ivory blossoms carry through the sage theme. The Flowergirl's basket was filled with fresh flowers and included a well into which silk rose petals were placed for dropping. With so many Southern California facilities requiring permanent (rather than fresh) petals, finding innovative ways to include both types of blossoms has lead to some creative yet beautiful design challenges.
Some brides choose to accent their sage themes with light touches of pinks or peaches. In the photos below, we used blush colored 'Sahara' roses to lightly warm the color spectrum and add depth to the photos.
Brides looking for a cool and elegant color theme will find that sage green gives them a wide variety of options to add their unique, personal touches.
